Pediatric physiotherapy at Eramosa Physiotherapy Associates, Orangeville clinic

Occupational therapy support for children who need a little extra help meeting physical, cognitive, social, or emotional milestones. No referral is needed to book.

Every child develops at their own pace, but developmental milestones are still a useful signpost — key indicators of a child’s growth across physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains. Occupational therapy plays a significant role in supporting kids who need extra help reaching them.

Our occupational therapist starts with a comprehensive evaluation — often in the environment where your child spends their time, whether that’s school, daycare, home, or our clinic — to identify any delays or difficulties, then builds an individualized plan targeting the areas where your child needs support.

Areas we support

Developmental milestones span several domains, and our occupational therapist can help with:

  • Motor skills — fine motor tasks like grasping, manipulating objects, and hand-eye coordination, and gross motor skills like balance, coordination, and strength
  • Sensory processing — helping your child integrate and respond to sensory input, including through an individualized “sensory diet”
  • Cognitive and perceptual skills — problem-solving, memory, attention, and visual-perceptual skills that support reading, writing, and other academic tasks
  • Self-care and daily living skills — independence with dressing, eating, and personal hygiene, plus adaptive tools where they help
  • Social and emotional development — turn-taking, sharing, communication, and emotional regulation
  • School readiness — pre-writing skills and classroom behaviours like sitting, following instructions, and participating in groups

What to expect from your EPA for Kids occupational therapy experience

Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your child’s care is left to chance.

Developmental screening

Your occupational therapist conducts a comprehensive evaluation, often in your child’s natural environment, to identify any delays or difficulties across the developmental domains.

An individualized plan

Based on the assessment, your therapist builds a personalized plan targeting the specific areas where your child needs support.

Parent and caregiver involvement

We educate parents and caregivers on how to support development at home, and build home programs that reinforce the skills learned during sessions.

Common questions about developmental milestones support at EPA. Still have questions?

No. You can book a developmental milestones assessment for your child directly with our clinic. Direct billing to most major insurers is also available.

Yes. That’s exactly what a developmental screening is for — a comprehensive evaluation identifies specific areas of delay or difficulty so you have a clear picture, rather than a general sense that something’s off.

Often, yes. We build in evaluation and support from your child’s natural environments where possible, and we can provide parents and caregivers with home programs that reinforce what’s learned in sessions.

Developmental milestones span motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive and perceptual skills, self-care and daily living, and social-emotional development. Your assessment identifies which of these areas is the priority for your child.

Occupational therapy for developmental milestones focuses broadly on the skills a child needs for daily life and school readiness. If your child’s main concern is specifically gross motor movement, our pediatric physiotherapists may be a better fit — and our team can help point you in the right direction.
