Every child is unique, so it’s not unusual for development to vary from one kid to the next, or for a child to not “bounce back” the way you’d expect after an injury. For some parents, an early diagnosis — low tone, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy — can feel overwhelming. Other parents simply notice their child isn’t playing or walking quite like their peers, or that a worry that started at birth hasn’t gone away.
Parents are their child’s number one advocate, and you want access to the best resources and healthcare providers available. With busy schedules and no shortage of information to sort through, it’s not always clear where to start. Our pediatric physiotherapists are here to give your family a clear starting point and a plan built around your child.
Our approach emphasizes early intervention, because early detection and treatment can meaningfully change a child’s trajectory — helping them reach milestones like crawling, walking, and the coordinated movement skills that come after. Our pediatric team works from a “dynamic core” or “central stability” foundation, and we connect families with other key resources — occupational therapists, speech-language therapists, physicians — some of which are available right at our clinic sites.
Pediatric Physiotherapy supports children and families with
Our physiotherapists see children across a wide range of needs, including:
- Infant concerns — torticollis, well-baby check-ins, feeding difficulty, a preference for looking or lying in one direction, head-shape changes (plagiocephaly), and milestone screening
- Delayed gross motor milestones — concerns with 0–3 year old milestones like head control, rolling, sitting, crawling, and walking
- Gross motor development and coordination challenges, including Developmental Coordination Disorder
- Orthopaedic concerns — growing pains, knee pain (Osgood-Schlatter’s), patellofemoral pain, jumper’s knee, heel and foot pain (Sever’s disease), and hip pain (Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis)
- Neurological conditions — low tone, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and more
- Sports injuries, including concussion, coordination and body awareness, and return-to-sport planning
- Movement challenges — toe walking, “W” sitting, and general coordination concerns
- Pediatric pelvic health
Our approach at EPA for Kids
We use a dynamic core, central stability approach, and we emphasize early intervention wherever it can make a difference. Because EPA has deep roots in these communities, we can connect your family with other key resources — occupational therapists, speech-language therapists, and physicians — some of which are available directly at our clinic sites.
EPA for Kids is just the beginning of your family’s relationship with EPA. Our services span every age and stage, so your child can stay with a team they know as their needs change.
What to expect from your Eramosa physiotherapy experience
Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your child’s care is left to chance.
Assessment and accurate diagnosis
Your child’s first appointment is a one-on-one assessment in a private treatment room. Your physiotherapist takes a full history, involves you in every step, and builds a picture of your child’s movement, strengths, and challenges before recommending a plan.
Treatment built around your child
We know parents know their kids best, so we build treatment goals and strategies together with your family. Sessions are kept collaborative and fun for kids, and may combine hands-on treatment, exercise, and family education depending on your child’s needs.
Progress that adjusts as your child grows
Children’s needs change quickly, so your physiotherapist reassesses regularly and adjusts the plan as your child progresses — and connects you with other resources, like occupational therapy or speech-language therapy, when it would help.
