Sport and performance physiotherapy is focused on athletes and active individuals, combining injury prevention, assessment, and treatment with training aimed at improving strength, mobility, and overall movement efficiency.
This service is offered at our Health and Performance Centre and Guelph clinics.
Treatment starts with reducing pain and swelling right after injury, then progresses through exercise and reconditioning toward sport-specific strengthening and mobility work — building back to the demands of your sport rather than stopping once you’re pain-free. We’ve also developed injury-prevention programs for some of the most common sport injuries, including KLIPP (Knee Ligament Injury Prevention Program), GRIPP (Groin Injury Prevention Program), and SHIPP (Shoulder Injury Prevention Program).

Common conditions we treat with Sport & Performance Physio
We work with athletes managing ACL tears, meniscus tears, patellar tendinopathy, and shoulder dislocation and separation, among other sport-related injuries.
What to expect from your Eramosa Sport & Performance Physio experience
Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your return to sport is left to chance.
Assessment and injury management
Your first appointment identifies the injury and its contributing factors, with early treatment focused on reducing pain and swelling so healing starts on the right track and further injury is avoided.
Progressive rehab and reconditioning
As pain and swelling settle, treatment shifts to an exercise and reconditioning approach — progressive, sport-specific strengthening and mobility work, with injury-prevention programs like KLIPP, GRIPP, or SHIPP built in where they fit your sport.

Return-to-sport clearance
Your physiotherapist confirms you’ve met the strength, mobility, and performance benchmarks for your sport before clearing you to return, so you go back to competing with confidence, not just because the pain is gone.

Common questions about sport and performance physiotherapy at Eramosa. Still have questions? We’re happy to help.
No. Physiotherapists in Ontario are primary care providers, so you can book an assessment directly. Direct billing to most major insurers is also available at our clinics.
As soon as possible. Starting treatment right after injury helps ensure proper healing at each stage of recovery and reduces the risk of re-injury once you return to sport.
Our goal is performance, not just pain relief. Treatment progresses from managing pain and swelling through to progressive, sport-specific strengthening and mobility work, so you’re conditioned for the demands of your sport before you return.
They’re injury-prevention programs we’ve developed for some of the most common sport injuries — KLIPP for knee ligament injuries, GRIPP for groin injuries, and SHIPP for shoulder injuries in throwing athletes. Ask your physiotherapist whether one fits your sport and training.
Yes. We treat acute injuries like ACL tears and ankle sprains as well as chronic and overuse issues such as tendonitis and bursitis, with a treatment plan matched to how the injury developed.
