A Review (Dhrubapasad, 2022) of 16 studies showed: yoga & physiotherapy interventions could effectively manage various health conditions such as chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions and mental health issues. Yoga & physio interventions complement each other and can be combined to achieve better outcomes. The connection between physio & yoga highlights the importance of an integrative approach to health and wellness, incorporating evidence-based practices from different disciplines to meet each patient’s or client’s needs and goals.

An assessment by one of our Physiotherapists is needed prior to participation in the class. The Physiotherapist will ensure that the class is appropriate as part of the treatment plan.

Classes run approximately 60 minutes, once a week, over six weeks.

EPA offers 3 types of PhysioYoga classes

Class Type #1 – Release & Restore

Do you feel stiff, tight or achy? Have you noticed your body is affected by stress? Do you have limited yoga experience and an interest in being supervised while learning the basics? This 1x/week 6-week Physio Yoga class is for you! We focus on improving mobility, learning how to release tight musculature, manage stress and begin some basic yoga strength moves, and balance with the goal of improving freedom of movement and body awareness.

Class Type #2 – Length & Strength

Have you noticed the loss of strength as you age or have been recovering from an illness or injury? Struggled to return to the gym or community classes due to past injury re-aggravation? This 1x/wk 6-week Physio Yoga class is for you! We focus on posture and creating length, building strength through core control, targeted exercises with body weight & dumbbells, balance and progress to more challenging transitions with the goal of improved musculoskeletal length and strength.

Class Type #3 – Power & Perform

Are you an athlete with current or old injuries that are affecting your game? Are you looking to improve your power and performance without aggravating an injury? This 1x/wk 6-week Physio Yoga class is for you! We focus on musculoskeletal length, power, focus, balance and control with speedwork with the goal of improving your game without experiencing re-injury.

What to expect from your Eramosa Physio Yoga experience

Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your care is left to chance.

Starting in the right place

We start by understanding where you are now — your history, your goals, and what you want to get back to — so the programme is pitched at the right level for you from the first session.

Guided sessions

Sessions are guided throughout. Technique is coached, exercises are adjusted as you go, and the level is set so that it challenges you without putting you at risk.

Progressing your program

As you build strength and confidence your exercises progress. Physio Yoga is designed to leave you with something you can carry on with independently.
