MVA physiotherapy focuses on the assessment and treatment of injuries sustained through motor vehicle accidents. Care is tailored to reduce pain, restore movement and strength, and support a safe and effective return to work and daily activities.

At Eramosa Physiotherapy, we believe in an active approach where you play a major role in your treatment. Our Motor Vehicle Accident Program follows the scientific basis for tissue healing — there is an acute, a sub-acute, and a chronic phase of healing — and your treatment is matched to the phase you’re in.

Throughout your program you’ll receive education on the importance of your active role in complying with treatment, following through with treatment recommendations, and setting goals that return you to your previous level of activity.

Common injuries we treat after a motor vehicle accident

Motor vehicle accidents commonly cause whiplash and other neck injuries, back pain, concussion, and soft-tissue sprains and strains. Your assessment identifies every injured area — including the ones that sometimes surface days after the accident — and your plan addresses them together.

What to expect from your Eramosa physiotherapy experience

Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your care is left to chance.

Assessment and accurate diagnosis

Your first appointment runs 45 to 60 minutes, one-on-one in a private treatment room. Your physiotherapist assesses every area injured in the accident and builds a program matched to the phase of tissue healing you’re in.

Treatment that targets the cause

Treatment is delivered and progressed by a physiotherapist, and during your program you’re evaluated on a monthly basis. Timeframes for tissue healing vary with the nature and severity of the injury — your plan progresses at the pace your recovery allows.

Reassessment and return to function

You’ll have the opportunity to have your functional abilities tested, and the information from that assessment helps ensure a safe return to your pre-accident status — at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get your questions answered

Common questions about physiotherapy after a motor vehicle accident. Still have questions? We’re happy to help.

No. Physiotherapists in Ontario are primary care providers, so you can book an assessment directly. Our clinic team can also help you understand what your situation requires when you call.

Sooner is generally better. Some injuries surface days after an accident, and an early assessment documents your injuries, starts phase-appropriate treatment, and sets a baseline for your recovery.

Your program follows the phases of tissue healing — acute, sub-acute, and chronic — with treatment delivered and progressed by a physiotherapist and monthly evaluations of your progress. Education and active participation are central: your recovery works best when you play a major role in it.

Timeframes for tissue healing vary depending on the nature and severity of the injury. Your physiotherapist will outline a realistic timeline at your assessment and adjust it as your recovery progresses.

Yes. Your functional abilities can be tested during your program, and that information helps ensure a safe return to your pre-accident status — including work duties.
