Specialized exercise classes are physiotherapist-led group programs built around strength, mobility, balance, and overall function. Each class is tailored to specific goals or conditions, supporting recovery, helping prevent injury, and promoting long-term movement health.

Specialized exercise classes are offered at most of our EPA clinics.

An assessment by one of our Physiotherapists is needed prior to participation in the class. The Physiotherapist will ensure that the class is appropriate as part of the treatment plan.

Our programs draw on more than 20 years of specialized exercise experience at EPA, including condition-specific programs such as GLAD for hip and knee osteoarthritis and a dedicated program targeting bone loss in osteoporosis — the right program for you depends on your goals and what your clinic offers.

Common conditions we treat with Specialized Exercise

Specialized exercise programs are used to restore movement and reduce pain from a range of musculoskeletal conditions, and are tailored individually — since every injury or movement dysfunction is different, so is the program built around it. We offer condition-specific programs including GLAD, a specialized exercise program for hip and knee osteoarthritis, and a dedicated program targeting bone loss in osteoporosis, developed and refined at EPA for more than 20 years.

What to expect from your Eramosa Specialized Exercise experience

Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your care is left to chance.

Assessment and finding your program

Every specialized exercise program starts with an assessment of your condition or movement dysfunction, so your physiotherapist can match you to the program — or combination of programs — that fits your goals, whether that’s GLAD, our osteoporosis program, or a general strength and mobility class.

Guided group programming

Programs are delivered in a supportive group setting, with several EPA locations offering BoneFit-certified instructors alongside our own osteoporosis program, and progressive exercises that build strength, mobility, and balance.

Reassessment and progression

Your physiotherapist monitors your progress and adjusts your program over time. For more targeted goals — such as building core stability or improving a specific movement pattern — specialized exercise is often combined with a more focused physiotherapy assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get your questions answered

Common questions about specialized exercise programs and physiotherapy. Still have questions? We’re happy to help.

No. Physiotherapists in Ontario are primary care providers, so you can book an assessment directly. Direct billing to most major insurers is also available at our clinics.

GLAD is a specialized exercise program for the treatment of hip and knee osteoarthritis, combining education with progressive exercise to help manage pain and improve function.

Yes. EPA has researched and developed a specialized exercise approach to osteoporosis for more than 20 years, and several of our clinics have BoneFit-certified instructors to complement the program.

Physio Pilates is offered as its own dedicated service, though it shares core-stability and postural goals with many of our specialized exercise programs and is often recommended alongside them, particularly for low back and hip pain.

That’s exactly what your assessment is for. Your physiotherapist reviews your condition, goals, and which programs are currently offered at your clinic, then recommends the specialized exercise program — or combination of programs — that best fits your needs.
