Physio Pilates integrates postural and breathing awareness into a program built around strengthening the core. It’s a series of fluid movements designed to build body awareness, promote flexibility, and support resistance training in a way that builds lean muscle, and it’s well suited to anyone looking for light, body-weight resistance exercise that helps connect posture, breathing, and movement patterns to weakness, pain, or dysfunction.
We offer two formats. Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded piece of equipment to add resistance to your core workout in sitting, standing, kneeling, and lying positions; sessions are taught one-on-one, and it’s a good option for those who have completed rehab for a hip, back, or shoulder injury or who are progressing well through their program. Mat Pilates is offered as a 6-week small group class, led by a Registered Physiotherapist and Certified Pilates instructor, capped at six participants, and focuses on building support through the legs while creating freedom through the spine, hips, and shoulders.
An assessment by one of our Physiotherapists is needed prior to participation in the class. The Physiotherapist will ensure that the class is appropriate as part of the treatment plan.
Mat Pilates classes run approximately 60 minutes, once a week, over six weeks.
Physio Pilates is available at select Eramosa clinics — ask our team when booking and we’ll confirm which location offers the format you’re looking for.

Our Physio Pilates Options
1:1 Reformer Physio Pilates
The reformer is a specialized piece of Pilates equipment that uses a spring-loaded resistance system to challenge your core strength, stability, flexibility, and endurance. Each reformer session is taught one-on-one — you’ll learn how to use the equipment safely and how to modify the exercises for your specific needs. It’s a great step up for those progressing through, or graduating from, rehab for a hip, back, or shoulder injury.
Physio Mat Pilates
Group Physio Pilates mat classes led by a Registered Physiotherapist and Certified Pilates Instructor. The mat class focuses on creating support for the legs and freedom for the spine, hips, and shoulders, with special attention to the specific rehabilitative needs of each participant — classes are kept small so everyone gets individual attention.
Group Reformer Physio Pilates
Reformer-based Physio Pilates in a small group setting — combining the resistance and control of the reformer with the energy and support of a group class.
Common conditions we treat with Physio Pilates
Physio Pilates is often recommended for low back and hip pain, core weakness, and postural imbalance, and it’s a common next step for anyone progressing through rehab for a hip, back, or shoulder injury. It’s also used more broadly to build the strength, flexibility, and body awareness that support everyday movement.
What to expect from your Eramosa Physio Pilates experience
Path to Improved Health is the framework every Eramosa patient follows. We’ve used it to guide assessment, treatment, and recovery since 1997 — and it’s how we make sure nothing about your care is left to chance.
Finding your right fit
Reformer sessions are taught one-on-one, so your instructor can assess your current rehab stage and tailor exercises, equipment settings, and modifications specifically to you. Mat classes are capped at six participants, with attention given to the specific rehabilitative needs of each person in the group.
Guided, hands-on instruction
Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded system to add resistance in sitting, standing, kneeling, and lying positions, challenging your muscles and core stability in ways that are difficult to replicate without the equipment. Mat Pilates combines progressive resistance and restorative movement, with a strong emphasis on functional anatomy to strengthen supportive muscles and release tight ones.

Progressing your program
As you build strength and control, your instructor progresses your exercises and equipment settings. Reformer Pilates is often used as a step up once you’ve completed rehab, or as an ongoing challenge for your strength, flexibility, and endurance goals.

No. Physiotherapists in Ontario are primary care providers, so you can book directly. Direct billing to most major insurers is also available at our clinics.

Not quite. Physio Pilates is physiotherapist-guided and tailored to your rehab stage, injury, or movement dysfunction, rather than a general fitness format. It’s an excellent complement if you also attend a Pilates studio class elsewhere.
No previous experience is needed. Reformer sessions are one-on-one, so your instructor teaches you the equipment and modifies exercises to your level from the start. Mat Pilates classes are geared toward those who have completed a rehabilitation plan and are ready for a supervised group program.
