The EPA-FAE requires 3-5 hours to complete, can be booked within one week’s notice and is available at all EPA sites. It uses standardized protocols and equipment provided by Metriks Education to determine current functional status through progressive functional dynamic testing.
A physiotherapy screen is included. The evaluation identifies impairments and outlines return to work capabilities, with comprehensive reporting generated at the completion of testing. It is typically used when monitoring for consistency of effort is necessary.
Two evaluation options
Option A — EPA-FAE
Requires 3-5 hours to complete, bookable within one week’s notice and available at all EPA sites. Standardized protocols and equipment from Metriks Education determine current functional status through progressive functional dynamic testing. A physiotherapy screen is included.
Option B — EPA-FAE (2-day)
As above, but repeated over a 2-day span. This gives the employer insight as to the fatiguability of the employee’s endurance and the employee’s ability to perform repetitive work over a 2-day period.
What both are used for
Returning an employee after a leave to a modified and suitable work plan matching their functional abilities; clearance that a person can meet a comprehensive outline of functional requirements; and meeting WSIB or other disability claims management documentation of objective functional abilities testing where return to work placements have been unsuccessful.
